TOREA: [ TR-51 ]

Overview

TOREA is a sovereign, modular, and secure software-defined mesh networking system designed to enable resilient underwater, surface, and low-earth-orbit (LEO) communications for autonomous defence assets. Built to interoperate with MANU relay nodes, TOREA forms the encrypted backbone for distributed maritime data exchange.

TOREA orchestrates burst communications across acoustic, optical, RF, LoRa, and satellite links, ensuring operational agility and situational dominance in GPS-denied, contested environments.

Mission

To deliver a sovereign, secure, and dynamic communications mesh for autonomous maritime systems, enhancing distributed operational capability across sea, surface, and space domains.

Key Principles

  • Multi-Modal Switching: Acoustic, optical, RF, LoRa, and satellite burst pathways.
  • Sovereign Cryptography: Encrypted, authenticated dynamic routing, compliant with STANAG and Type 1-readiness.
  • Modular Architecture: Containerised stack supporting diverse node types and rapid integration.
  • Operational Resilience: Engineered for dynamic re-routing and autonomous self-healing in contested environments.

Development Approach

TOREA is developed with an agile-first methodology focusing on modular software prototyping, field experimentation, and integration with sovereign manufacturing partners under AUKUS Pillar II cooperation frameworks.

Strategic Alignment

TOREA supports distributed autonomy, resilient maritime ISR architectures, and rapid operational command cycles, directly aligning with emerging Five Eyes maritime communication doctrines and sovereign capability objectives.
